Anyone playing Anthem?

Normally I eschew anything from EA, they have a terrible track record these days.  But I did play the demo and found "something" compelling about it.  Perhaps it's the faux Ironman feel of flying around and shooting.  It's definitely a rushed product though, there's a lot of bugs currently, and some UI issues, but the core gameplay loop is pretty fun.

Anyone playing, I'd love to hear your opinions.

I feel that the excessive loading screens hurt the game a lot. Even on an SSD, they're still annoying and are present almost everywhere.

After coming from Assassins Creed Odyssey, I was surprised to see a loading screen when I entered a cave in Anthem. I hear the Frostbite engine is far from ideal for open world games.

I have been playing it. Really enjoying the game overall. Yes, the load screens are annoying, so I'm hoping the "day one" patch cuts those load times down a good bit. However, most of the things that people have complained about with Anthem have not been a problem for me. I would prefer faster load times, but I still remember well the elevator rides of the first Mass Effect. The menu system which some people call clunky, is not a hindrance to me at all. It is not the best menu system but it is still serviceable and easy enough to get around in. I've run into a couple server connection issues, which is definitely annoying, but those have not happened often enough to cause me to stop playing the game.  The story is not as good as Bioware typically makes, not bad, just not the typical really good Bioware story. What I do enjoy is the world itself and the combat. Those things have kept me coming back. Currently I am working on getting masterwork gear and completing the challenges (how you unlock the ability to craft better versions of gear, basically kill X # of baddies with a particular weapon, stuff like that). Most of my complaints are quality of life issues, so nothing game breaking. I am looking forward to the future of Anthem, but until then, I'll continue having fun in the Anthem of now.

*EDIT* Forgot to mention, if you are thinking of purchasing the game, but unsure if you will like it or stick with it, get a single month of EA Prime. $15 (US) for a month with the game means you could do pretty much everything you want to in Anthem. If you still like, then buy the game. If you don't like it, don't buy the game. Sure you might pay an extra $15 for the game, but that is better than paying $60 and hating the game.

I've heard the same things about the engine, and had exactly the same response going into the 1st cave in the tutorial mission.  I'd played during the beta and open beta demo weekends.  I think it's a diamond in the rough, but currently more rough than diamond.

I'll be playing on the 22nd, for sure, but unless there's a LOT of fixes and changes, I think it'll die pretty quickly, since there's a lot of lacklustre things about what is fundamentally a pretty bog standard loot shooter with some pretty graphics.

I have Origin membership thing, but after playing it during the beta it didn't seem very enjoyable. The horizontal and vertical mouse sensitivities were not 1:1 and way off. This ruined aiming as well as flying. As of right now Apex Legends is the flavor of the month. Its polished and free.

Have played for about and hour and so far I love the graphics however im currently limited to around 30 to 40 fps because my 3570k just cant keep up... https://imgur.com/PikjMTe

It's very CPU intensive in some areas. I was having dips into the low 50s on a 4770k @4.5GHz and overclocked 1080Ti at 1080p.

Ended up using DSR and using half refresh rate vsync for 4K/30 on controller. Feels so much smoother.

I'm normally a keyboard and mouse guy, but using controller in this game seems to be more enjoyable.

I am currently using G-Sync for 4k but when it dips below 30 fps then it stutters and it doesn't seem to matter if graphics are on high or medium...I get about the same results with both settings, going to try 2k later today but in the next month I will have money to do a cpu/mobo/ram upgrade

I'm playing it now.  And I have to admit, aside from the huge trepidation from the massed negative reviews, it really isn't all that bad.  Or should I say, there's something compelling about it that makes me want to play it despite the bugs that crop up occasionally, or the weird design choices I don't agree with.
