Metro Exodus Coming Exclusively to Epic Games Store

The Epic Games Store has scored another PC digital exclusive, this one being Metro Exodus, which releases on February 15. Before getting too far, do not worry if you already pre-ordered it on Steam. These sales will still be honored through Steam and Expansion Pass content will still be delivered on Steam. The Epic Store will also not get any exclusive or timed DLC and even if you only ordered the Standard Edition, you will still be able to purchase the Expansion Pass or standalone DLC on Steam when it releases in the future.

In the press release by Deep Silver, CEO Klemens Kundratitz praises Epic's revenue terms, as they "will allow publishers to invest more into content creation, or pass on savings to the players." It might be worth noting both the Standard Edition and Gold Edition are ten dollars less ($49.99 and $74.99) than they are listed on Steam ($59.99 and $84.99).

While Metro Exodus will release exclusively on the Epic Games Store, it will not be forever as it will return to Steam and other store fronts come February 14, 2020. Also we can expect to see both Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux on the Epic Games Store later this year.

THQ Nordic AB (I'll explain in a moment) has put out a statement concerning this news, as some seem to be misunderstanding the situation concerning Deep Silver and THQ Nordic GmbH. Basically, THQ Nordic AB is a parent company the owns multiple publishers, including Deep Silver and THQ Nordic GmbH (and Coffee Stain). This move to make Metro Exodus an Epic Games Store exclusive is Deep Silver's decision, and as it has autonomy does not suggest THQ Nordic GmbH might do the same with any of its titles. According to the release, THQ Nordic AB, the company that owns the publishers, will be changing its name to avoid confusion with the publisher it owns. This is something the company told shareholders last year.
