News came yesterday that Bungie, the developer of the Destiny series of games, and Activision will be ending their partnership. The partnership began in 2010 when Bungie wanted to have an established publishing partner willing to take a leap of faith with them. Now, after tens of millions of sales of Destiny games and expansions, the two have begun a planned transition to end this partnership, with the publishing rights for Destiny going to Bungie. Bungie acknowledges it has a lot to learn about self-publishing, but it sees great opportunities and potential with Destiny.

For any concerned about the future of Destiny 2, Bungie states in its post on this that it plans to continue delivering on the game's roadmap and to make some announcements on what lies beyond.

Maybe this will end the endless money grad in Destiny 2. I play this game still and have gotten 2 of the 3 expansions so far but decided to hold off on the Forsaken expansion because it appears not only do they want you to pay for the expansion which is fine but to get all of the features of Forsaken expansion you also have to buy the game passes which is not fine. I have a buddy that bought the forsaken expansion and he was a bit upset when he was not able to do everything in Destiny 2 Forsaken until he forks out more money for that. He did say that for the money you do get a lot more in Forsaken than you did in the first 2 expansions but was not happy about having to fork out more money and the cheapest Forsaken standard edition is already like $54.99CAD and the deluxe version is like $109CAD which is pretty costly for a mere expansion which is not even a full game.
