Have a quick update on this; I mention I experienced the game crashing a fair amount in the review, and in the review playthrough videos. I have continued to experience the same crashes outside of this game, and interestingly it seems related to whether I have VLC open in the background, paused but to listen to music when I am out of the game. This means the game appears to not be at fault, but perhaps VLC is, or some other weird software interaction going on that includes the running of VLC and a game.

It's possibly related. A few times when I'd have music going in VLC, I would have VLC crash soon as I alt-tabbed back into the game, but the game itself was fine.

There were also a couple times it was a UE4 crash, so that would have just been Darksiders III and not VLC, but the crashes that took down the computer, and therefore also the video capture, were the same as I experienced later with a different game.

There is a new patch today with a host of changes I for one am happy to see.

  • Default and Classic combat
    • Classic is what you find in the previous games (Dodge interrupting attacks, instant item use) while Default is the original system
  • Health Lurchers can be purchase from Vulgrim to refill Nephilim's Respite
  • Fury cannot take damage while performing an Arcane Counter
  • Havoc Form does more damage

There are more changes than those, but those are the highlights for me. (Also, I want to say you should give the Default combat mode a sincere try. You can definitely adapt to it even if it is more challenging than Classic. But buy those Health Lurchers when you need them!)

Try switching media player to Kodi, you will never go back to VLC.  https://kodi.tv/

I already use something different. It was a couple years back for VLC lol, but thank you for the Kodi recommendation.
