Come February 14, 2019, players of Sid Meier's Civilization VI will have the opportunity to face the forces of nature as geology and climatology will present new challenges in Gathering Storm. With this second expansion for the game environmental effects such as volcanoes, storms, climate change, floods, and droughts will change the world and potentially how you play. New engineering projects will be available to enable empires to convert surrounding lands, such as adding canals, dams, tunnels, and railroads. You will even be able to construct flood barriers to protect coastal lowland areas. The World Congress is being added to Civilization VI as well, giving you a voice amongst the other leads and the ability to earn Diplomatic Favor, along with a Diplomatic Victory condition. There will also be nine new leaders and eight new civilizations as part of this expansion.

The Technology and Civics trees will be expanded into the 21st century to add new research opportunities and capabilities. You will want to consider these as the power and consumable resources system has been changed, so while you start off using coil and oil to power advanced buildings, you will also come to unlock renewable sources as you progress to modern day. The decisions you make for deploying these technologies will have an impact on the world's temperature and therefore the ice caps and sea levels.

It definitely looks like this expansion will be bringing a lot with it, and there are still more additions than I mention above. There are gameplay system improvements, two new scenarios, new wonders, units, improvements, buildings, districts, city sets, techs, and civics.
