LongBike Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 (edited) Aloha , I am trying to find out if it is possible for me to install .... 4GB - x4 of the same Sniper Modules into a MSI 970 Mobo with ... AMD 6300 CPU and 850 Corsair Power Source. I have ...... Sniper 1600 ....... 4 of the same Sticks with each one.... 4 GB Memory Stick for use. Can this be possible for use and still be safe to run the MoBo. Or should I just go with ........ 4GB x 2 in Dual Channel instead ,,,, ?? Just try to find out to be safe for use. Braegnok Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 (edited) Your motherboard supports 4GBx4 1600 G.SKILL memory,.. the kits listed in QVL are Quad kits with Q in model number 4GBx4 kit,.. the sticks in above photo are Dual kits as the D in the model number 4GBx2 kit. The kits listed in your QVL,.. Ripjaws X Series 4GBx4 F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL and Ripjaws Z Series 4GBx4 F3-12800CL9Q-16GBZL are both tested OK in your motherboard. https://asset.msi.com/file/test_report/TR10_3193.pdf Mixing two dual kits 4GBx2 might work fine and might not, it's hard too say. Just because they are not listed in your QVL does not mean they will not work, just that kit configuration perhaps was not tested. It's safe to try if you already have the kits, most likely they will work fine,.. but if your buying/ordering the kits you would be better off buying/ordering a kit listed in your QVL,.. I also thought about this while looking at them but as always finding out about things is how it it is done. The Modules will be found it if does not work altogether. That kit shown in attached photo is listed in your motherboard QVL, and running a 4-matched modules kit would be much better than running two dual module kits. Yes I got him .... 2 - Fifth's of his Favorite Whiskey and they were both 10 year old in age. He was glad and opened one and he had a few shots while we were talking about the Build I have here.
