Can I use Sniper All Same 4x4 Modules in a MSI 970 with AMD 6300

Recommended Posts

Aloha ,

I am trying to find out if it is possible for me to install .... 4GB - x4 of the same Sniper Modules into a

MSI 970 Mobo with ... AMD 6300 CPU and 850 Corsair Power Source.

I have ...... Sniper 1600 ....... 4 of the same Sticks with each one.... 4 GB Memory Stick for use.

Can this be possible for use and still be safe to run the MoBo.

Or should I just go with ........ 4GB x 2 in Dual Channel instead ,,,, ??

Just try to find out to be safe for use.

Thank for a reply back

Your motherboard supports 4GBx4 1600 G.SKILL memory,.. the kits listed in QVL are Quad kits with Q in model number 4GBx4 kit,.. the sticks in above photo are Dual kits as the D in the model number 4GBx2 kit.

The kits listed in your QVL,.. Ripjaws X Series 4GBx4 F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL and Ripjaws Z Series 4GBx4 F3-12800CL9Q-16GBZL are both tested OK in your motherboard.  https://asset.msi.com/file/test_report/TR10_3193.pdf

Mixing two dual kits 4GBx2 might work fine and might not, it's hard too say. Just because they are not listed in your QVL does not mean they will not work, just that kit configuration perhaps was not tested.

It's safe to try if you already have the kits, most likely they will work fine,.. but if your buying/ordering the kits you would be better off buying/ordering a kit listed in your QVL,.. I would update your BIOS to latest version M.4 before upgrading memory if your not running M.4 now.  https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/970-gaming.html#down-bios

You made a typo on description,  F3-1200cL9Q-16GBXL should be (F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL.

That kit shown in attached photo is listed in your motherboard QVL, and running a 4-matched modules kit would be much better than running two dual module kits. Nice score, you need to buy your friend a cold beer.

Aloha Nimrod

Well thanks for the reply back about these Modules. Yes I got him .... 2 - Fifth's of his Favorite Whiskey and

they were both 10 year old in age. He was glad and opened one and he had a few shots while we were talking

about the Build I have here. Well we will see how this Build works out when soon done.

Aloha and thanks for the replies to all this and it is very much appreciated also.

Note :

I just scored today a ...... Nivida Edition Coolermaster 690 cased P.C. from the same guy again which he has now upgraded to a

huge new home made case that he has and bigger MoBo that is all brand new.

So I will be transferring all this into a .. .... Coolermaster HAF Full Tower  that I have here for more cooling.

The MoBo inside the Nivida Edition 690 is a .......  MSI X58A-GD650 MS-7522     /    Ver. 4.3

Six Slot for the Modules and V8 CPU Cooler with a ..... Seasonic 1200 Watt Power Unit
