Guest_Jim_* Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 We have known for months that AMD has been working on a discrete Vega GPU for mobile platforms, and finally they have been revealed. The announced products are the Pro Vega 20 and Pro Vega 16 and they are paired with HBM2 like the desktop discrete GPUs. By using HBM2, which places the memory chip immediately next to the GPU instead of farther away as multiple chips, the total size of this discrete mobile solution is smaller than traditional designs, allowing it to fit in smaller laptops. Currently the only laptop announced that will offer these new GPUs is the 15 in MacBook Pro coming in late November. Hopefully it will not be long before they appear in laptops from other manufacturers, especially they can be available in time for the holidays.
