Guest_Jim_* Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 Today Oculus introduced its next headset called the Oculus Quest. This new piece of hardware differs a fair amount from other offerings from the company, as it uses the company's Oculus Insight technology for inside-out tracking and the headset itself can power the experience, without the need of a computer or phone. You can put it on and have six degree-of-freedom tracking and tracking without other supporting hardware. This Insight technology relies on four ultra wide-angle sensors to track your position using computer vision algorithms and supports Guardian, to keep you safe while wearing the headset. The headset uses the optics of the Oculus Go device with a display resolution of 1600x1440 per eye, and has lens spacing adjustment to improve visual comfort. The built-in audio has also been improved to provide higher quality sound. The company is saying Oculus Quest will be available in Spring 2019 at a price starting at $399. This gets you a 64 GB version of the headset and Touch controllers. Oculus already has over 50 titles lined up for launch, including Robo Recall, The Climb, and Moss.
