Can't get my 4000Mhz RAM any higher than 3600

You can see from my specs below I have 64GB of memory.  3600Mhz is the highest I can achieve that is 100% stable.  I've gotten to 3700 but had CRC errors with my disk image backups which is one thing you don't want messed up.

 

I tried all kinds of changes in my UEFI to no avail.  My tight timings with 3600 makes my RAM perform up there with RAM running at 4000.  My main question to you folks is the cause of this issue because I have 'too' much memory?  Is the extra voltage and heat just to much to get to 4000?

I was going to suggest checking the QVL list for that ram since you are hitting a high number with all the slots filled. However Corsair website doesn't even list a 64GB kit above 3733  for LPX ram :(

 

Did you combine two 32GB kits? because that what the model number comes up with...Thats a no no when reaching higher speeds. It could be that those 4 sticks just don't work well together. Or corsiar doens't think any LPX sticks can run 4 dimms at 4000 which is why they don't offer it.

I took out two of my sticks and still can't get past 3600.  I'm starting to think the problem might lie with my motherboard and/or UEFI.  Perhaps it's that darn memory training.  Seems whenever I change anything related to memory my machine reboots a few times and more than not returns to the BIOS. Sometimes when I do boot into Windows it used some old profile I saved.  Related to this, some of my profiles actually disappear.

 

Any other ideas on getting me over 3700?

Running 4X16GB at 4000Mhz would require a shit ton of voltage adjustment to your CPU VCCIO, and CPU System Agent,.. most likely your motherboard will not handle the voltage needed for 24/7 stability running 4X16 @ 4000Mhz.

 

Pulling one kit was a good idea,.. you may be able to get one kit running at 4000Mhz by slowly increasing VCCSA,.. go slow with the voltage increment as to much will cause instability just as not enough will also cause issues,.. I would not go over 1.4V on your VCCSA. 

 

If you can't get 4000Mhz stable it's not a big deal, other than price you paid for 4000Mhz memory,.. your not going to see any noticeable difference in bandwidth or FPS running at 3600Mhz with Coffee Lake.  https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Intel/Core_i7_8700K_Coffee_Lake_Memory_Performance_Benchmark_Analysis/

I didn't think of this before but the performance index says 4000 @ CL19 = 210 and 3600 @ CL17 = 211. So really other than gaining theoretical bandwidth, 3600 is going to yield the same results as 4000 @ CL19. I would stick with 3600 rather than playing around with VCCSA voltages personally.

Lot's of good info from you guys, I appreciate it.  I am hoping that you all can shed some insight into what some of the settings in my UEFI mean and more importantly can I use them to increase my memory speed.  Here they are with their corresponding values I can set them to.

 

Realtime Memory Timing:  Auto/Enabled/Disabled.

Memory Enhancement Settings:  Relax OC/Enhanced Stability/Normal/Enhanced Performance.

CPU Internal AC/DC LL:  Auto/Power Saving/Performance/Turbo/Extreme.  (I use Turbo for CPU Vcore LLC)

Dram Training Voltage:  Auto/Normal/A voltage of my choice.

Memory Multiplier Tweaker:  Auto/1-4. Auto defaults to 1.


I managed to O/C a little more by upping my BLCK to 100.75.  Memory is running at 3628 with the same timings. CPU now running at 5037 Mhz.  Uncore at 4535 Mhz.
