A somewhat recent topic in the news has been concern over Kaspersky products, culminating in a ban on them by the Department of Homeland Security in September. Now it has been revealed by a memo sent to the Science, Space and Technology Committee of Congress that the Defense Intelligence Agency flagged the products as a potential threat back in 2004. At the time there were suspicions the Russian government could use it as an espionage tool, and so the Department of Defense ceased using its products. Other federal agencies continued to use them, however, and due to the ban they must remove the products by December 12.
