nice_shoes Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 I wanted to re-play my old copy of HALO COMBAT EVOLVED and installed it on my rig which is now Windows 10 (used to be Windows 7). The installation seemed to preceed normally, but when I used the desktop icon to start the program it told me to log in as administrator. So, I did a right-click and selected "Run as Administrator". It looked like the program was starting to work, but then it popped-up a troubleshooter. After running the troubleshooter, the result was "Incompatible program". Is there a work-around for this? Seems like I should be able to run older programs on Windows 10.........maybe not??
scr4wl Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Try and run in compat mode for xp or something. https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/set-compatibility-mode-windows-10 Not sure if it'll work, but worth a shot. I havent touched much of windows since 7 though, so there may be a better answer.

cchalogamer Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 (edited) You may need to uninstall and reinstall running the full installer program as an admin as it may not have let it write certain files, past that compatibility mode and the 1.10 patch should take care of it. Try https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Halo:_Combat_Evolvedfor more info if that doesn't work out. Angel Greg Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 (edited) I tried installing the patch you suggested and Halo Patch told me "Halo is not installed on your computer. This patch requires Halo to run". Does this seem ironic to anyone else? Any other suggestions? ir_cow Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 I hate to say this, but now that the Master collection is on steam, the likelihood of getting this game to work is slim to none. No one remebers how to get to run on Win7 lol.
