vangoal Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Hi there. I have an old 775 board with a q6600 and i wanted to try and overclock. Im new to this field but i watched some tutorials. Anyway i see that on my BIOS i dont have any "jumpfree configuration" menu. Any thoughts? Asus P5K-MVM 5GB DDR2 400Mhz Thanks
scr4wl Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 I think on your board the overcocking settings are under ai tweaker.., or maybe extreme tweaker.
wildman2 Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 On my Asus blitz extreme it's under Extreme tweaker.
SpikeSoprano Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 This board is not really made for oc'ing, it only has a 4 pin cpu plug and the power phase is very low end, so the oc options might be disabled.
wildman2 Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Got a screen shot of the bios anywhere.

scr4wl Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 That board should definitely have settings for overclocking: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P5KVM/ http://www.anandtech.com/show/2339/
Dynamic Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 (edited) There should be an advance section where you can go in and change FSB and such. Edited May 25, 2017 by Dynamic
ir_cow Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 People forget those chips don;t have unlocked multiplier. The only thing you can do with a q6600 is raise the FSB from 166 to 200. I think its 200 or its 133 to 166...it has been like 10 years since I owned one.
SpikeSoprano Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 It's possible that if the mb came out of a prebuilt pc like hp that a lot of the time they put there own bios in it that will not permit oc'ing. I've seen a few manufactures do this to protect their warranty.
Braegnok Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 (edited) Welcome to OCC. In your BIOS setup utility is there an option for Advanced,.. A1 Overclocking [ Auto ] ,.. if so set to [ Manual ] and you should have CPU Ratio Control, FSB Frequency, PCIE Frequency, DRAM Frequency, DRAM Timing Control. You need at least those few BIOS options to OC with FSB,.. better motherboards also have Vcore and several other adjustments like the Intel P965 or nForce 680i chipset's,.. you might be out of luck with G33 chipset. If you do not have any BIOS OC options,.. you can use overclocking software and PLL chip #,.. like CPUCool http://www.cpufsb.de/FSB.HTM or setFSB 2.0 http://www13.plala.or.jp/setfsb/ Edited May 25, 2017 by Braegnok
