Paranoid Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 Did you clear the CMOS?
wootas Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 What does that mean? Anyways after hitting the reboot button on the case a few times and nothing happened I held in the power switch and turned if off then went and posted that. Came back up after I posted and turned it on and it let me in the bios to change everything back. Does it hurt the machine when stuff like that happens and I have to cold boot it like that and hit reboot?
InvaderTrax Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 It might hurt it, but it might not. Anyway, to clear the CMOS, just turn off the power supply in the back and take out the battery for 10 seconds. That'll reset it and set your speed back to stock
wootas Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 Well if it did hurt it I would know wouldn't I? It seems to be running just fine at 275 1:1 like it was earlier, benched it again and all the benches were fine, if not higher than normal. All I did was cold boot it by holding the switch in for a few seconds then restarted it when I came back 10 mins later and it let me go into the bios. IUMaestro Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 sounds like you avoided damage turb. what he's talking about is cutting off battery power to the BIOS, which in turn sets the BIOS back to default settings when replaced. This is for when you maybe OC too high and can't boot cause your BIOS keeps trying to run the overclock each boot up. and sometimes the only way to clear that is to starve the BIOS of power to reset it
General Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 hmm on my motherboard i just need to use jumpers.. it clears the bios and then when the computer boots up it takes u straight to bios screen. however you must reset the time date. all that stuff
