CheeseMan42 Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Microsoft made the Play Anywhere initiative a big focus of its recent E3 live stream, with the promise of buying a game once and playing it on either Xbox One or Windows 10. Xbox lead Phil Spencer has revealed some further details that may help to bridge the gap between the two platforms. The company is actively working on integrating mouse and keyboard control support with the Xbox One, with Spencer stating, "Truthfully in our dev kit modes now keyboard works, mouse support is a little bit further away. I say it because I know it’s not years away, it’s more like months away, but we don’t have an exact date yet." Full support for the preferred control scheme of most PC gamers has the potential to make console systems more appealing to PC fans, and could even help level the playing field in cross-platform play. Spencer even sees it as a path to bring games that traditionally avoid consoles due to the available control scheme stating that "it’ll be interesting to see how many of those creators think about running their PC and mouse-only game on console, and then this idea of Play Anywhere might get even more interesting for those guys." DrTiCool Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 M$ loosers, when first xbox came out there was big statement that this peripherials won't see the light on this platform. Even old Dreamcast had this support and it was kinda revolutionary for console at that time, and pretty useful for sure(Online use). Late but still... WhenKittensATK Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 I'm curious as to how they will do it. If KB/M players can play with Controller players or whether games will be restricted to one or the other.
DrTiCool Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 As I remember there there were no restrictions for Dreamcast or PS2 in Q3A or UT, so gamepad users were thrown against KBMouse players.
