4-pin +12v P4 Connector Uses?

Recommended Posts

Here's one that I've been curious about. What exactly does the +12V P4 lead do? I have a P4 system at work that doesn't even have a connector plugged in it since the PSU is pretty old and didn't come with the plug and it runs just fine.

Now for the REAL question. For all those AMD people out there, what use can I make of this spare 4-Pin +12V P4 connector? Does anyone know a converter I can use to power a couple of cold cathodes with it or something? Is there anything I can possibly use that stupid connector for on my AMD board? What have you done with it? (other than hiding it)

i dont know what you could do with it, but, it is likely that the motherboard at work has a 4-pin molex connector on it as well as the 12+ Aux connector

my Asus P4GE-V mb has it, this way you can use either, no matter what PSU you have :P

Hey

I have a Amd Athlon xp 2200+ and I recently got a 500w modular psu. :P There is one p4 connection line on it. I was thinking of recriping the p4 line into a 4pin molex line. This way I can have more connectors if I ever needed it.
