Dell began Project Sputnik, its program offering laptops powered by Linux, more than three years ago, and the program appears to still be going strong. The Ubuntu 14.04 powered XPS 13 Developer Edition is the fifth generation of offerings from the company and features the latest Intel Skylake processor. Dell will initially offer three laptops with a Core i7 processor, with plans to expand to the Core i5 in the future. The base model starts at $1,550 and includes a 3200x1800 touch screen display, 8GB of LPDDR3, a 256GB PCIe SSD, and Intel Iris Graphics 540. The next step up doubles both RAM and storage for a cost of $1,950. The top end model will cost $2,350 and bumps storage to 1TB.
