Microsoft Visual c++

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to "clean" up my PC a little before I take the plunge and upgrade to Windows 10.

I've noticed that I have several different versions of Microsoft Visual C++ 20XX Redistributable (X64) & (X86) installed.

Do I need all these different versions for "things" to work correctly or can I delete some of them and leave the latest 2013 (X64)?

It seems like there are way too many of them on my pc also, but when I did delete some of the older ones some of my games would not work without them, so now if they are there I just leave them installed, they don't use much room.

Software needs a matching runtime to what it was compiled with. For example if a game was compiled with Visual Studio 2008, it needs that runtime to run. It's possible that some of the runtimes aren't used (if you uninstalled the software that used them), but it's hard to tell. Though if you uninstall at most you'll have to reinstall them.
