Microsoft Updates

Recommended Posts

So... Windows 7 updates have been an issue for some time now where the updates either hang while searching or they say "Downloading", but go nowhere. I'm currently trying to fix my uncles machine that just started doing this to him a few weeks ago and before that was my wifes PC, my daughters PC, my parents PC, my Brothers PC, etc...

I've found several Fixits online that are supposed to fix this issue, but I'd like to know WHY it became an issue to begin with. Oddly enough, it seems to have started as soon as the "PUSH" to upgrade to Windows 10 started invading peoples computers.

I had this conspiracy theory back when they pushed to go from XP to Vista, and then from Vista to 7, to 8, etc.... It seems as if every time a new OS comes out, people seem to have more issues with the previous model (slower, errors, blue screens of death, etc). It's almost like it comes in the updates somehow, and 95% of users have no clue what to do, so they either upgrade to the newer OS because the last one is crapping out or they just go buy a new computer. It's a Win/Win for Computer manufacturers and Microsoft.

Has anyone else ever thought this?

yes.

It seems an update not related to the Win 10 upgrade triggers it. The only way I know to get around it is to set the updates to Automatically Download and Install and then once it fixes turn it back off and only update the ones you want. After using the sweeper to rid the Win 10 files I have left it off.

I agree, if they screw up your old os enough then you fork over the bucks for a new one, this has been happening sence the xp move to vista.I keep updates turned off until I decide to do them. W10 in my opinion is like watching a blue ray movie (that you purchased) loaded with commericals you don't want to see.

Yes, after the release of Win 10, and Office 2016. There seemed to issues after installing updates on Win 7, and Office 2010. I have a computer that I just did a fresh install of WIn 7 SP1. I could not get windows update working on it. I think I have tried every fix I found on google. I did a reinstall of the OS again just to be on the safe side. Windows update is still broken.
