ASRock any good?

Recommended Posts

Just curious if ASRock motherboards are any good. I have had pretty good luck with the other major brands, but never used their products.

They are the 3rd largest motherboard maker so yeah not too bad (ASUS and Gigabyte being 1 and 2) and are technically part of ASUS anyway (ASRock's was an ASUS spin off then became part of Pegaton (another ASUS related company))  You get a different (though in my limited experience with ASRock's support better than ASUS) support path and some really off the wall design ideas (X99 mITX board, consumer OC board with LSI RAID controllers etc) but at the end of the day I would recommend them right along with ASUS GB and MSI.

I plan on buying Asrock E3V5 WS motherboard with Intel C232 Chipset, to upgrade my folding rig. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157686&cm_re=asrock_e3v5_ws-_-13-157-686-_-Product

Asrock has some solid platforms with best value currently and all reviews seem vary good.

I have and ASrock z77Extreme4 paired with my 3770K and it's been great! I fold 24/7 with that badboy and the girls stream netflix, etc when they want to.My other rig is an older ASUS board but to be honest I haven't had problems with either.

You need to upgrade your folding rig or just fold at all! I just took over 7th. C'mon catch me if you can, lol  :haha: jk

never had a good luck with ASRock. the 4 boards i've owned over the years, they all would have major ram compatibility issues, some USB ports would die within a year and than the NIC and Audio. Bad luck I guess but it happened on all of them mostly in that order. The last one I got was on the X58 platform. Never again. I'm the odd one out because it seems everyone else doesn't have these problems.

Edit: I take it back, the ITX H85 I used for reviews still works fine but I've only used it for a couple of hours in total, just for benchmarks.

All the ASRock boards I have had are finicky with ram. None of them have liked Low Voltage (1.35v ddr3) ram and was a 50/50 shot with GSkill.

My current main rig which is a ASRock AM1H-ITX and AMD AM1-5350 was no exception.
