CheeseMan42 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Synology has announced the DiskStation DS416j, a four-bay network attached storage (NAS) server "designed for home and personal use to manage data and enjoy multimedia." The budget friendly NAS allows users to stream and view content on a variety of platforms including computers, tablets, projectors, and smartphones. The DS416j runs the DiskStation Manager OS and is powered by a dual-core CPU, providing read and write speeds up to 112MB/s and 101MB/s, respectively. An included floating-point unit boosts the systems computational power and allows for a 37% increase over the previous model. A USB 3.0 port is included for high speed transfers to or from external hard drives. Synology product manager Jason Fan described the NAS stating, "The 4-bay DS416j comes with rich applications and large storage capacity, letting users enjoy cloud synchronization and multimedia streaming at a competitive price."
