Locutus Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I bought my mom's old pc which has wacos old DFI board and my xigmatek cooler... I had this Q6600 I wanted to swap in, so I took the cooler off. Well I couldn't get the last snap thingy to mount properly and ended up breaking it. So I guess I need to order a kit or maybe buy some screws to mount the heatsink. I'm not sure if screws are a good idea but it's 15 before shipping for a kit from swiftech. http://www.swiftech.com/APD2-S1155-1366-KIT.aspx
ccokeman Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Are you talking about the mounting clip for the stock cooler? If so I should have a stock cooler for a 775 chip.
Locutus Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Yeah but not exactly the stock cooler snaps. I think I'll go to home depot tomorrow. I also have a backplate that might work from my bequiet cooler
ccokeman Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I usually end up at lowes since they have a better selection of screws and springs for mounting CPU blocks. Good luck with it!
Locutus Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Spent like 3 bucks and got some bolts that did the job. Having a hard time installing Windows 7 though. I'll figure out what's going on.
ccokeman Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Make sure the pressure is even across the heat sink. If you have to count threads its a pain but works. I always use springs when I fab something up since the mount is a little more forgiving that way.
Locutus Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 The heatsink has a bit of give and I used some thick spongey washers I had lying around. I guess I wasn't giving it enough time because it's doing things now... ooo install screen.
