Upgrading for JC3 and future

Given that my rig is about 10 years old and thus does not meet the recommended requirements for an upcoming game I want I am parts shopping.

I Plan to use my existing GTX 970 in this build but need everything else. I suppose I could get away with recycling the SSD...

  • 2 weeks later...

Just Cause 3 has me thinking of a new rig as well... My HD6870 video card is struggling with even medium settings so I was looking at upgrading my video card only. My wife scowled at me when I had shown here the few I was going to go with and then I find out that she ordered me an XFX 390.

The flip side had me looking at my current rig in my signature and realizing it's going to be 6 years old. I truly believe it'll be powerful enough for another 4 years, BUT I'm also one that usually rebuilds every 3 or 4 years and is able to SELL used parts to recoup some cash from a new project. I also usually never buy brand spankme new parts and usually opt for ones that are a year old because the "keep up with the Joneses" people save me a lot of money....lol
