Playing With Knoppix

ok i'm at work and i'm playing around with knoppix, I can't seem to get onto the schools network. anyone know how to help me?

For future reference (I doubt your still there) All logins and boots have to be authenticated by a PDC, giving you rights and access priviliges to any comp you log into... I doubt knoppix will look to login on a PDC... The only chance is to use the same proxy server they use and try to connect to the internet that way....

You have to download the nForce2 drivers from nvidia and compile the drivers into your kernel. The drivers carry support for the AGP, LAN, and sound (sound don't work though).

hey thanx, crap that sucks, cause i don't know how to do that. haha. can i even compile into the kernel if i'm using knoppix seeing that its live run from the cd?

no knoppix will not authenticate to a PDC. most distros of linux will not.

the easiest way i know to get a linux distro to log into a windows network, well its not that simple, but its not that bad either. you need at least one NIS server, and a active directory domain controller (or PDC for nt4) that has microsoft services for unix installed, with that you can sync the NIS domain to your active directory domain, and the linux boxes actually authenticate through the unix NIS server, but still use the windows login
