pcgamer247 Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 well i am wondering what is the best video card i can get for around 80 - 100$
InvaderTrax Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 Well, you can't get something good for $80, but for $100 at newegg.com you can get a Radeon 9600 non-pro. Personally, I'd shell out the extra $30 ($130 total) and get a 9600 Pro. The performance difference is amazing

r_target Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 The Radeon 9200 128Mb is I believe around 70$now.Might be a better bet than the universally loathed fx5200.The Radeon is a fine card for the price.Couldn't OC the one I had however-it wouldn't" stick".-EDIT-oops everybody posted at the same time -I was about to go to newegg and see myself.Forget about the 9200 if 9600 is that low.The 9600 will blow it's socks off.Whole different league. Guest FxXP Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 A used 9000 Pro would better then a 9200. A pity that ATi dumped the 9000/9500 series <_<
General Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 man.. why the hell did they make the 9200SE worse than the 9000 non pro. what the freaking sense in that.
smithy Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 (edited) I'd get this but it will cost you more but it is an ATI product and not Sapphire even though it is refurbished. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....&type=Refurbish Hopefully they will get some soon but definitely get 8 pipelines vs 4 pipelines. Sly_C Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 i love my 9100 128, its cheap and a pretty decent card. id say got with the 9600 non pro for that price or save up so money (about $60 more) for the 9600 xt.
pcgamer247 Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 thx guys i ordered the 9600 non pro
Will Smith Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 from what i guess this is ATI's deal. They label a card 9200,9600,9800 by the way its built. if it can't handle extrme speeds its brand an XT, high speeds a pro. decent speeds non-pro, and if some of the pipe don't work a SE. Think the SE was a way for them to drag in money on the cards with the pipe problems so they didn't have to trash them or fix them. Save's them money. Guest FxXP Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 Thats on the dot. Why dump half-defective GPU's when you can just cut of the internals to the bad pipelines and sell them? AMD did it with the Applebred cores, cut off 1/2 the cache in a Barton and sell them as new Duron's.
