CheeseMan42 Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Amazon is planning to release a new tablet targeted at budget conscious consumers with a release "in time for this year’s holidays." The tablet will likely have a 6" screen with an expected price of just $50 which would "make it one of the least-expensive tablets on the market and half the price of the company’s current Fire HD 6-inch tablet." Further rumors indicate that Amazon will also release tablets with 8" and 10" screens, though pricing figures aren't speculated yet. The new tablet will be less feature packed than those currently available in the Fire line, though it remains unclear just what areas have been cut most to hit the $50 price target. In order to help cut costs, Amazon decided to outsource much of the work to "overseas firms including Shanghai Huaqin Telecom Technology Co. and Taiwan’s Compal Communications Inc." rather than using its Lab126 unit. ET3D Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 The natural thing to cut is the screen resolution. I hope that's not what happens.
