ccokeman Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 R9 285 Tonga with new feature set is now code named Antigua. Have a look at the screen shot of GPU-z in the review. New GPU Microcoding does not induce an enhancement to performance. Clock speed and driver optimizations do. The R9 380 when compared to the R9 285 clocked at 975/1375 is faster thanks to its 1000/1500Mhz clock speeds and the release driver. Now look at the card when overclocked. Same situation. Higher clock speeds equate to higher performance in the R9 380. Refresh vs rebrand we can argue semantics all day long. Its not a new product. Lets look at the 2013 vs 2014 Mustang. Same parts underneath with some new body panels. The dealers call this a refresh. Change the name to Horse drawn carriage with the same parts and new body work and we have a rebrand. Waco Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Right. I guess I've been a bit blunt, but point is, the R9 285 has been reborn as the R9 380.

DanTheGamer11 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Will reflashing give you the four geometry processors vs the 2 in the 7950, ACE things and account for the different memory bus bandwidth and stuff? %s/7950/R9 285/g I thought the 280 was the 7950 Same :/
