If you can believe it, DOOM 3 arrived eleven years ago, and in that time very little has actually been said or shown of DOOM 4. Sure, there were the rumors of it being canceled, and then John Carmack came out and said id Software's mobile division was shuttered to better focus on the game. Then last year came a beta offer with pre-orders of Wolfenstein: The New Order to give us all hope of seeing DOOM 4 at long last. Last month brought us a teaser, but tonight, during Bethesda's E3 press conference, we have our first official look at DOOM 4, or rather, just DOOM.

Fast-paced, brutal FPS action is back, and do I mean brutal. Monsters can be taken down with some truly gruesome finishing moves, with blood and guts and viscera flying everywhere. All manner of weapons can be used to take down Imps, Demons, Commandos, Revenants, and Cyberdemons. Weapons such as the shotgun, chainsaw, minigun, BFG, and, of course, the super shotgun can all be utlized in your fight against the forces of Hell.

Alongside DOOM's single player campaign is multiplayer, which looks to be just as fast-paced as past titles. Go up against people online as marines, or change things up and battle as a demon, like a Revenant. Multiplayer can be played on whatever maps the base game has with it, or you can create your own with SnapMap, an easy-to-use map creator and more. I say more because SnapMap allows players to custom create brand new game modes, with things like co-op, wave assault, and more all possible. Whatever you can imagine, you can probably get it created and played by gamers all over the land.

DOOM is set to arrive Spring 2016 for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Ready to grab your super shotgun and go back to Hell?
