It has been revealed by the Blu-ray Disc Association that the Ultra HD Blu-ray specification, which provides support for content up to 3840 x 2160 pixels resolution, has finally been completed. Along with the support for Ultra HD content, ensuring a truly immersive experience to UHD TV households, the Ultra HD Blu-ray specification allows for the delivery of high frame rate and high dynamic range content.  The Ultra HD Blu-ray specification provides support for the delivery of object-based sound formats, and also mandates that all new players that support the latest specification be backways compatible with current Blu-ray Discs.

Ultra HD Blu-ray is expected to be licensed this summer, with the Blu-ray Disc Association working closely with leaders of the authoring, testing, certification, and replication industries to ensure the proper support for the latest specification.
