Safe mode in win7

I have had a problem or two and needed to use safe mode.

The instructions didn't work.

The only way to get safe mode was to turn off the computer with the power button. Causing a crash.

Am I missing something here? Is the BIOS version at fault? F8 does does the same as the delete button. It takes me into the BIOS!

Please help.

Nahhh.

F6 took me past the BIOS info at the start without showing it, twice! Then loaded windows normally.

Then, two goes later, it took me to a screen: Windows repair, or Windows normal start.

I just looked in Help and Support:

I typed in Safe Boot, and the answer was :

The topic you are looking for is not available in this version of Windows.

Open up msconfig by searching for it in the Start menu. Go to the Boot tab, check the Safe Boot option, and then hit OK and restart. Once in safe mode do whatever you need to do, but before rebooting go back through msconfig and uncheck the Safe Boot option so it doesn't stay in that.
