But I need help trying to decide what ram and water cooling to get. I need 32GB of ram red/black to go with theme but would it matter if I purchase 2x8 dual channel set for 4x8 1600/1866 or Quad Channel 4x8. I thought about G. Skill Trident X Series 32bg 4x8 quad 1866 8-9-9-24 Do any of you no if there is better overclockable ram. Also I thought about the Swiftech H240-X Cpu Liquid Cooling Kit vs the Corsair H100i, H110 and H105 Which is better for overclocking. I know I really like the Swiftech reviews and it only 50.00 more. This case will hold two radiators 240/cpu top and 240 2 videos bottom. I have read reviews but I wanted to ask real world experienced overclockers. I haven't had this kind of upgrade for sometime and would like to overclock the clock out of it..! I've got new toys! Also any web pages to help with overclocking the MSI 970 would be help full, still figuring out the bios. Thank you! Honestly I think that's at least equal or better performing than the FX-8350... Did you purchase all that already? A side grade at best. 2: No platform supports "quad channel", it is either dual or single with AMD platforms. The only platform that supported higher than dual, was the 1366 you had before (triple channel). 3: Overclocking RAM is not that useful, not in real time performance, not in games. Pick the one with the higher memory and be done with it really. 4: If you would go for the H100i, you wouldn't miss out much on performance if there was a better cooler. I suspect he is doing more than playing games since he "needs" 32gb of ram, but whether overclocking it will make a difference, I don't know. Your ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution is one of the best x58 motherboards out there (which is a rarity these days), it would be a shame to get rid of that for a MSI 970 Gaming AM3+. Option 1: Find a cheap X5650 or similar hexacore LGA 1366 CPU. I'm still kicking a used i7 980X at 4.2GHz for my photo/video rig, and it's still plenty fast. Much faster than you'll get with an AMD FX-8350. Overclocking memory isn't going to get you much unless you're overclocking your CPU a good amount (up in the 4.6GHz+ area). You'll want memory at around 2400MHz with at least CAS 11 timings to make a decent real world impact. Otherwise, very minimal impact for real world applications, and you'd be better off just finding whatever's cheapest. Unless you're going to go custom watercooling, I don't recommend AIO watercooling unless you want to minimize space for RAM installation issues. Just get the best air cooler you can afford. I needed to upgrade for 32GB of ram and since it would cost me about the same for this new motherboard, cpu and case as purchasing 24GB triple channel why not, I can get a new i7 later when money gets better. I purchased MSI 970 gaming, FX-8350, IN WIN case for $359.87 and just used the other parts from the i7 I copy VHS, Blue Ray and vinyl records into ram disk then convert them to hard drive. I also wanted to get more speed out of SSD because the ssd saturate sata 2 I know it maybe a downgrade as far as the i7 but with the newer Tech it is an upgrade. Also I notice an improvement in speed from the hard drive, bootup and gaming from this more than my i7-930 after running that for years. I have the Xigmatek Dark Knight heat pipe and the ram is touching the fan. I notice I would get better cooling with water for overclock and room for ram. Is H100i good as swiftech 240x? I like the idea of swiftech water reservoir in the closed loop to expand than just radiator like Corsair. Also can I clock the cpu without clocking the ram and just get 1866 on this motherboard.
