VolcomPimp Posted August 12, 2002 Posted August 12, 2002 Well my n00b friend braught to my attention the fact that his firewall is blocking lots of files on Kazza for him and he cant send pix and stuff on AIM... Though I dono if it's actually blocking files on kazaa or not I guess I'll have 2 take his work for it.. he has a hardware firewall like me and I figure that if I find out which ports AIM and kazaa run on or send files on, I can forward them throught he router (though this might me a bad idea...).. well anyway was just wondering what ports they are if anyone knows cause I wanna try this on my router cause it's similar and see if it helps, and was wondering if anyone knows if it'll actually help... thanx
d3bruts1d Posted August 12, 2002 Posted August 12, 2002 You can change the ports AIM uses. 1214 is the Kazaa port

VolcomPimp Posted August 12, 2002 Posted August 12, 2002 I think that's the port it connects on their server... or at least it looks that way on the prefs... I did the trick w/ Kazaa and at first it looked the same, but then some files started goin faster, I think they were pickin up more users... could just be the time of day or somethin but it seems to have been a difference.. if it continues to do so I'll let ya guys know...
