TheHostileGamer Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 So I just got a pair of Razer Kraken Pro 7.1 Chroma headphones. It is a USB connection from the pair to my PC. Here's the question: Because they don't physically connect to my sound card are my headphones using my sound card? Are they Using their own built in sound card? Or somehow using my mobo audio even though I don't have the drivers installed? Thanks
bp9801 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Headsets that connect via USB are using their own internal sound card and nothing more. So all the sound you hear from the Razer is handled by itself and not your sound card/onboard audio.
El_Capitan Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 ^ They are not going through your sound card. You can't pair a USB headphone with a soundcard. The USB headphone has it's own DAC.
TheHostileGamer Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Ghey! I was hoping there was some sort of software emulation that would allow it. Oh well! Thanks
Bubbaxm2 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I actually like it this way because it allows me to keep my speakers plugged into the sound card and with a few clicks I can switch back and forth between the two.
capthowdy575 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 (edited) I have never been big on usb headphones I made the mistake of picking up a pair of g35's which are decent but not great. then i bought a used pair of astro A50's which are pretty decent bought them mostly for the ps4. I just won the hyper X cloud headset which is just a re branded pair of qpad 90's. know these hyper x cloud sound better imo. I really need a sound card a amp to make the most out of them but for know I will be using them when i need headphones for my pc. also the hyper X clouds are only 2 speakers and do not emulate 5.1 just stereo. VaporX Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 also the hyper X clouds are only 2 speakers and do not emulate 5.1 just stereo. Do not bother with 5.1 emulation, check this out to see why you do not need it for a headset/headphones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUDTlvagjJA

GabrielT Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Having more than 2 drivers in a pair of headphones is more than useless.
