Recommended Posts

I'm in a real dilemma here , should i buy a 24" 144Hz monitor or go for 1440p? Depending on the monitor i will either buy a 970 or a 980 respectively , it's 700

Basically it depends on what you can afford and what panels your comparing, if I was upgrading it would be the Asus Swift PG27Q8 1440P with GSYNC @ 144Hz panel,.. is truly awesome for smooth gameplay but there are cheaper 1440P monitors. http://rog.asus.com/296652014/news/rog-announces-the-pg278q-swift-27-inch-wqhd-g-sync-gaming-monitor/

You're unlikely going to hit 144 FPS at 1080P with a single GTX 980 except for select games, or by turning some graphics settings down.

1440P at 60Hz is a very nice experience. The only thing that trumps it is playing first-person shooters at 1440P at 120Hz or higher. :P

If you're an avid FPS gamer, then I'd go for the 144Hz monitor, even if you're not going to hit 144 FPS, as long as you're getting 96 FPS (with toned down settings), you're going to notice a good amount of difference.

I'm mostly of a Moba , RPG , MMO RPG gamer , not really into FPS or competitive FPS , so , 1440p? :P

+1 for 1440p.  That site has the ASUS ROG PG278Q, just about the best 1440p monitor, but expensive.  I don't personally know the benq and asus monitor options listed but there seems to be some good choices.  And my gtx970 gets great fps at 1440p.

Input lag should be good because it only has the one input option and no scaler for vga.  Reviews I've seen say that it is very low, add in g-sync = winning.

Yeah high refresh rate makes twitchy fps games feel more snappy, but high resolution makes everything look better.

Depends on longevity and expense. I like my 1440p monitor and playing FPS on 96Hz. Do-able with a GTX 680 2GB on medium settings. 1080p would be cheaper to push in short term and long term.

Not suse if I've experienced any noticeable input lag on my Qnix QX2710. The higher refresh rate was pretty noticeable.
