Well, I went for a more expensive machine:  D-Link DSL-2544N

I had trouble in the disk setup. It wanted a password from earlier. Nada!

I rang and got a very good lady from D-Link helping me through the setup.

I suppose i can't really give a review except to say D-Link was great (once I got to speak to a real person) and the setup and use is great.

I'll try to edit this with a speed check if I find the software.

Well, no speed check, but it is working fine. Take that back. This may be a speed ckeck:-

My new phone picks up wifi but I dont use it.

Over all, the unit has not dropped out once. It is running like a charm.

Oh, sorry, it was $95 Australian. And I got other stuff. Notably an SSD 256 Crucial MX100. Fast Windows.

I suppuse the Modem/Router is a good machine for a midway type. Not cheap but not expensive and it just chugs away with no hiccups. Fot those who are worried about heat I still have the fan from the old 604T. I have four screws in it to give it a half inch clearance from the desk surface and the modem sits on the fan. This modem has grill holes in the bottom so the air is sucked out of the modem and into the sides.

It does make quite a difference. At least to fingertip checking.
