This fall, Robert Morris University will be the first school in the country to offer athletic scholarships to students who play the video game League of Legends. Citing the "large surge in popularity" of video game competitions, the university announced that it "recognizes the value and legitimacy of eSports and is excited to add eSports to its already rich athletic curriculum." Pick any real sport in college athletics and try to imagine the blood, sweat, injury and commitment that goes along with it.................. versus what?? Some brain strain and carpal tunnel. Laughable at best. I guess they figure if they can't win anything of note in the major D1 sports they should waste scholarship money on gaming competition.
