panjang110 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 hi guy, i just got my self a new droid and when i charge the phone it gets really hot, do i need active cooling? i know battery doesn't last long if it's hot but is it normal for smartphones? i've been using my se satio since 2010 so i really don't know what to expect. the phone is imported fujitsu arrows a 301f , the reason i bought this phone because of the fast charging advertised on the web which is quite true but they forgot to tell me about the heat
RHKCommander959 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 anytime a battery is charged they will get hot. some phones have more space than others between the battery and casing, preventing users from feeling as much of the heat. Not familiar with that phone, but if its truly fast charging then that is definitely part of the heat issue. If you are that worried about it, set it on a cold surface such as a thick glass table, stone counter tops, metals, or other surface. If it feels cold to the touch it should do OK to absorb some of the heat. It shouldn't be hot enough to melt plastic
DanTheGamer11 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 My phone get's pretty warm when charging, even more so if I'm watching youtube or playing a game too, pumping more energy through the same thing at same time would create more heat. If you're worried to as above poster said and put it on something that would absorb the heat.
panjang110 Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 the phone is charged on a docking station so i won't be able to put it on any surface, i have tried a normal usb charger but the charging speed is quite slow. maybe this has something to do with docking station, the station is powered by a 12v 3amp brick which is way higher than our typical micro usb charger
DanTheGamer11 Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 If the dock came with the phone and is compatible I don't see a problem, unless it's near temps that can start a fire I wouldn't be worried
