PanskiKow Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I have tried every method using registry to move user directory off of SSD to 1tb drive with no luck. Everything I have tried messed up file share security permission you name it, until I found this page. I thought I would post it here so to help someone like myself that would like to do this. I have 120 ssd and 1tb and using this method was seamless. Lifehacker post gets credit: http://lifehacker.com/5467758/move-the-users-directory-in-windows-7 Using this method to move your User directory has no ell affects it is a junction/simlink No file permission issues and appdata is moved to your mechanical. Every new user you add will be placed on the mechanical no fuss no muss..LOL Also I created 1gb ram disk using free SoftPerfect 32bit & 64bit with image save 60min or 3hrs moved all environment variable temps, windows temps and IE temps to ram disk. I also install Firefox 29.01 straight into ram disk and moved the user profile to ram disk. This works so cool and load speed is fast. If you use MobileFox to do this you have to mess with the plugins (Adobe) but this method it reads it from the registry. I just thought this may help someone with small SSDs. I have found that the information on the net is lacking for this information and there is a small story on the page to what happened to the original post. PanskiKow Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I was hoping to see some feed back if this helped anyone and or if they found anything that also can be used. This method can be used for many possible configurations such as maybe windows directory moved to another drive to use multiple SSD drives not just HDD if you do not have trim support with raid. You can also install Windows 7 in dynamic and software mirror to another SSD for protection in accounting PC and use this method for even more drives. Save money use what you have! However, it's likely that you aren't getting much feedback because this topic has been covered here and at other places around the web previously. But thanks for the post and link.
