Bosco Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Today Isaiah takes a look at the Cougar MX300 Case. Read his review here: http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/cougar_mx300_review/
Hyper Threaded Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Well, it is a bit cheaper all of the cases it was compared to. I would expect those to perform much better and I doubt the MX300 was designed to run higher end hardware. Neither was any room temperature given as reference, not giving us anything to go by. WarWeeny Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Neither was any room temperature given as reference, not giving us anything to go by. The room temperatures has nothing to do with the cooling efficiency comparison, as all the cases where roughly in the same temperature room as the MX300. Plus it is kinda obvious the cooling performance isn't top as it only had 1 fan to go by.
Waco Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Ambient temperature matters when comparing cases between reviews with similar hardware though. Usually it is included so it might just have slipped through this time.

As a reviewer, it is your responsibility to provide accurate information for the reader to go by.
DanTheGamer11 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 It seems okay, not the prettiest looking case ever. I was going to complain about the USB 2.0 but seeing as it's available for 40$ on newegg I won't. Maybe a picture of the open side of the case would be nice? :3 Apart from that good review
WarWeeny Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Ambient temperature matters when comparing cases between reviews with similar hardware though. Usually it is included so it might just have slipped through this time. I don't know how reviewers go to work with their products, but i would've assumed that the reviewer won't take the same temps as they did when they did the review of an earlier product they reviewed (one could be in the winter while the other could be in the summer). It would only be logical (to me) if you would re-test every product, just in case the ambient temperatures differ greatly. Then again, if you need to rebuild eight computers for accurate temps, it Is a lot of work to do that xD Neither was any room temperature given as reference, not giving us anything to go by. As a reviewer, it is your responsibility to provide accurate information for the reader to go by. It is true that there should have been a mention what the room temperature was, but if you would test the cases under similar temperatures, the testing results will still show which case is better at cooling and which isn't. So there is SOMETHING to go by in terms of cooling performance
Hyper Threaded Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 All you really need to do is record ambient temperature with a cheap device and subtract it from the component temperature. This is called delta temperature and is constant. For instance, you've got an ambient temperature of 25c and a component temperature of 75c, the delta is 50c. This is the best way to compare temperatures.

It would only be logical (to me) if you would re-test every product, just in case the ambient temperatures differ greatly. You can do that if you want (good luck ever getting any review done!). I just control the room temperatures and track them during testing to make sure they're constant. I reported said temps in the reviews as well. So like I said; I'm guessing this one just slipped through.
ir_cow Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 hmm I guess i don't list it, I thought I did in the past but I have it always Ambient of 73F or 23C (I live in a basement apartment so its stays the same in the summer). As for the case itself the Raidmax Horus is better and $10 cheaper. I've asked about using different fans or adding some to see how much better a case would do but Waco is right and it would take forever to do anything. The way reviews are done is completely at stock to show what a consumer would be getting without spending extra money on fans or accessories I will say the GPU temps are always similar because the nvidia cooler is just so good. If the case doesn't have a front fan or side one I can almost guarantee higher temps with other cards and I try to point that out.
