Lots of work done today!

Flywheel/bearings/clutch/pressure plate installed...which meant:

Gave the radiator a bit of dress up too - the brass was showing so Amanda cleaned it up to get it ready for blaaaaack paint. :D

Alternator and starter re-installed and happy.

Still pretty boring on this side...

Now it's just accessory installation, intake manifold, header, and re-wiring the fuel injectors. I chopped the fuel injector harness removing them since I hardwired the lines from the ECU when I converted to sequential fuel injection.

First start with the stuck HLA:

On the break-in drive:

Just down the road the lifter finally shut up. 20 miles later she was PURRING. :D

Lol, yup , when you first start them up after a rebuild you would think the engine is going to blow up. Everything is dry of oil and it takes a few miles before the parts get properly lubed up, but as long as you don't hear any piston bearing knock it should be fine. Just don't beat the crap out of it for about the first 500 miles.

Sounds way down on power!

I thought the same but that stuck lifter will do that. more than likely an Intake lifter and it wouldn't open as quick as it should and miss part of the intake charge. once it got un-stuck and working should be fine.

Break in wont matter as long as  you lube it good and dont fire it dry not much chance these days of killing anything unless it is a new flat tappet cam. we fire plent of rebuilds at the shop but on a test stand. the most important part is to pre-prime the engine with the oil pump or a pressure primer before firing for the first time. I've done a lot of them the old fashion way like Waco and just fire it and never had one fail.

Once you heat cycle the rings a few times to make sure they are seated you can beat the piss out of it.. race engines are set up tighter than stock and those make a few heat cycles then off to race duty. Sometimes stubborn rings need rpm to make cylinder temps to seal the rings...
