Well I haven't got a budget from him yet but I threw this together so far... I also need to find out if he needs a monitor, mouse, and keyboard.

I also liked this case too, as it looks awesome and comes out the same after rebate but the Silverstone is still very nice yet is cheaper to start with (more important I'd imagine).

 

I tried a pairing of 1tb platter and even a 64GB SSD and it would have been more than the hybrid...though if he needs to lower the budget I'll just have to cut out the hybrid for a platter before I water down anything else

That looks like a capable system, I'm sure he won't go wrong with it ,hope he decides to leave the hybrid hd will make a great performance difference.

Thanks, it looks like the price increase from a 7850 to even just a 270X is pretty significant... I wonder if he'd consider a used card to get a better value.... though I can't really find anything worth it at his price range
