archeun1981 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Here are my specs Processor: AMD Phenom II x6 3.30 ghz Mobo: 890FXA-GD65 Memory: 16 gig of Corsair 1333 Video card: Nvidia GTX 770 2 gig PSU: Raidmax 850 Watt gold rated PSU I have been attempting to overclock my CPU but every time I run Prime95, I get a memory leak error (blue screen of death). Can anyone give me some advice on how to get the processor up to 4.0 stable?
wevsspot Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 What have you tried so far? How far do you get on stock cpu voltage before you start getting blue screens? How much cpu voltage have you tried? Have you adjusted the NB-CPU or NB voltages at all? Really going to have to give us a lot more information before we can be of much help. Welcome to OCC by the way and congrats on your first post.
archeun1981 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 So far the only thing that I have changed is the CPU multiplier in the Bios. I haven't touched the NB at all. I'm extremely new to doing something like this. Basically, so far I haven't changed much since the Bios on this board has quiet and cool etc, which I have left enabled. I'm not all that familiar with what the BIOS functions do. I've read quite a few articles but they have been a bit confusing to me. Thanks for the welcome btw . wevsspot Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 So you fail prime when you increase the cpu multiplier to x17? You can't just aim for 4.0Ghz without taking baby steps along the way. Start at the stock multiplier of x16.5 Run Prime for 4 hours and see if it passes If it passes increase multiplier to x17 Re-run prime / if it passes........ Increase multiplier to x17.5 Re-run prime / if it passes....... And so on. You need to find the highest multiplier you can use at stock voltage of 1.325v or so At some point you'll need to increase your cpu core voltage when you want to push further. There are already literally dozens of overclocking articles, guides and forum threads on overclocking the 1100T. You should read and research those and you'll find the guidance you're seeking.
