A funny little story.

So my very first LCD purchase was somewhere in 2004. Not exactly sure the date but just about 10 years ago now. It was a little 17" square no name brand (MAG) LCD, I pinched pennies for months, at the time I think I was 14. Finally I had saved up the cash to buy the monitor and so I went out and got it.

Anyway of course over the years LCD's became much more common place and you could get a lot more monitor for your money. So naturally I upgraded as time went on, to a 22 then a 24 and now a 25 inch. I've had maybe 5 or so monitors since my first LCD, most of them died eventually, currently im using a 25" HP 2509b seems like a pretty good monitor so far, good color etc. Every time I upgrade my main monitor my old main ends up being my second monitor in my two monitor setup.

Most recently my 22" westinghouse was upgraded with the aforementioned monitor and thus became my side monitor. Today, just as the rest of them have, it crapped out on me. Some quick googling says I should be able to fix it if I replace a few capacitors so there is still hope for it. However...

Long story short, I've always kept my little 17" in the closet as a backup, my fiance occasionally sets it up with her laptop for some extra real estate. And today, just like many other times it's been dusted off to replace my now dead secondary monitor until I can afford a new one.

Anyway it's just funny, my first LCD ever, was a relatively cheap (expensive to me at the time) no name monitor, yet its outlived at least 5 new monitors over the years, and has yet again been dusted off to hold the old guard again until I can get a new one.

Thanks ol' MAG, may your years always be good to you and may you always be with me.

Lol, I think every monitor I've ever purchased is still working.

I guess I'm lucky.

Same... I didn't even know they really broke or anything. My first LCD, a 1680x1050 HP 22" that I bought like 6 years ago is still working great. My parents bought a 19" scepter (so old that its square, not widescreen) forever ago and its still working fine.
