Wierd Question maybe regarding firewall option

Recommended Posts

In Windows, when you install a game or a software for the first time, windows firewall comes up and asks you whether to allow access to internet or something of that nature..

Does any one know if there is a way to reset that option for all the programs so it asks you again?

Thank you

If you're talking about the stock Windows 7 firewall.....  Yes there is.

1. Open the Windows firewall (Open the control panel and in the search box type Windows firewall or just firewall)

2. Open up Windows firewall

3. Look in the left hand pane and you'll see the option to "Restore defaults"

4. Click on "Restore defaults"

5. When prompted click "yes"

This will reset the entire Windows firewall to the default configuration.  However, if you're only wanting to modify a few of the rules, you can follow steps #1 and #2.  Then, once you're in the Windows firewall options page, you can review the rules for both inbound and outbound traffic.  Delete the rules for those programs that you have previously allowed.

In either case, reboot your machine after making the changes.

Blah blah blah and yada yada yada are pretty succinct wouldn't you say?  :)
