Just started folding again

Just fired up fah again and I like the new software....but It dont  seem to like my video card won't start just says "paused waiting for idle".Works for smp ok but ppd is real low not worth even doing smp for under a thousand ppd .Tried a previous version of gpu fah and it says I need an updated driver.Got the latest drivers from AMD still no go grrr.My card is a 6970flex from Sapphire. Can this card fold? Also played with the settings in configure section still no go.The program(latest fah)picks up card shows up in the advanced control panel correctly.Doesn't fold.Sure like to add more than 1,000 ppd for as much electricity as i'm using.

My goodness now I feel real dumb.hehe.Worked like a charm card and cpu folding.Hmmm now to install and setup on my other machine. Is it very problematic to add an nvidia card to the mix with a 4870 sapphire?I've got an old 9800gtx I could slap in there.

The 9800gtx will perform much better at folding, it seems to prefer nvidia cards. Just run that as the sole card.

I think this is old info.

AMD cards are extermely opotimized now.

I have a 7770 running core 17 WU bringing in ~20k PPD

BTW, look at the "OCC Teams" sub forum for a thread about YOU by ME, lol

With cards of that generation, ATI cards are severely limited in terms of what they can do folding. I agree with you on the 7xxx cards, though. With an HD4870, you may get 2,000 PPD. I think the 9800GTX will do more than that.

Good to know that 9800 is still good for something after all.May be upgrading the video card in my main pc in feb maybe the cpu as well.love to slap a 10 core xeon in it but they cost way too much. What would be a good folder video card for $300-500ish .I prefer Amd but Nvidia wouldn't be bad either. The 6970 will go in the old pc to fold.I plan on doing a lot of folding in the near future. Will be trying to run both of these pc's 24/7.As long as the power don't go out from storms and whatnot.Happens alot here.
