I'd like to give Windows phone a try

I know what all you iOS and android fan boys are going to say so please keep it limited.

Well I was checking out what apps they have they really seemed to step their game up with game apps, I was kinda surprised to see some emus in their store, not to mention their are some nice ported xbox titles.

I might grab a 920 for around 150, it really doesn't seem all that bad to me and I'd like to try and take a break from android and ios. I havent owned a ios device in like 3 years. :P

I made the switch for the entire family to Nokia Lumia phones two months ago and we love them. We have found a couple of apps such as XMRadio that are not in the app store but the stuff we need and many of our wants are covered. True the app store is smaller but let be real how many different fart tracking apps do you need. About 60% of the iOS and Android market are redundant. I have found that personally I like the Nokia mapping program better, even allows for voices to be altered for turn by turn directions. Right now mine is a female with British accent and idioms.

As for the phones I love the Nokia cameras, best I have seen on a phone so far. Not a big fan of not being able to remove the battery but then I have not needed to. My Android phones all needed a reboot at least once a week and sometimes need a hard reboot meaning the battery had to come out. ALL of my Windows phones have not needed a single reboot in 2 months.

I have both the 920 and the 925 so I can compare those. The 920 is thicker and heavier, be SURE to get a thin grip case for it. The plastic surface is durable but slick. The 920 has two features the 925 lacks, the 920 comes in a 32 gig model, the one I have. It also out of the box can work with induction charging. The 925 requires a hardware back to give induction and comes with only 16 gig. This is not as big a deal as I thought however. Both phones can be set to auto upload all pics taken to a Skydrive account, this means you can clean the pics off the phone often but still have quick and easy access. The 925 is thinner and sleeker, also has a slightly better camera but the general performance is about the same.

At the end of the day I can tell you an Android of iOS phone now feel like a toy to me. Oh sure I play games on my Windows Phone but the phone feels more polished and the OS is smoother and quicker. Really surprising that my phones hardware is technologically inferior to the newer Samsung and Apple products and yet does everything faster and smoother.

Now this is all my personal experience and phones today are really very much about personal needs and preferences. However my own experience has convinced me that right now a Windows Phone is the perfect choice for me.

Keep us posted on how the switch goes. I've been looking at smartphones and the Windows Phone looks to be a contender. One problem I can see for myself is that I have to use a mac at work. If I travel I only take my work computer so I'm not sure if it will play nice with an Apple computer.

I just like complete control over everything I buy, so unless there were ways to "jaillbreak" or "root" a WindowsPhone I'd likely never consider one. It does seem like it is one of the most reliable and stable mobile OS's though but again, like Apple, when you limit choices, it's easier to keep a control of problems.

i had a pretty good run with the good old lg quantum c900, win 7.3 phone,...(one of the first windows smart phones), ...it got the job done, and worked well for what i was using it for,...the darned thing was kind of limited by the lack of windows phone apps and has never really caught up to android platform,...even windows 8 phones are lacking but better...i've said before that when i first got a windows phone it was at a time when i really thought they were going to take off and gain in functionality and popularity but never did...the one thing i'd gladly point out is that the windows platform i used was very smooothe to operate and user friendly...

good luck with that !

Trully agree. Windows phone should get more credits. People, family near me use them and they are actually very satisfied. I guess sooner i'll change too. S3 plastic  is already cracking. Don't know why. Already cracked on both sides and near the micro-usb connector. Samsung failed to me.

All these touchscreen only phones are weak, I'll still stick to my physical keyboard android phones as long as I can. Case or not I never have them iPhone out on me and crack up their whole screen with a little drop here and there.

Consumers can have their "thin" (parentheses because most any case will ruin that), I'll have have a phone that doesn't need insurance or a case and can handle a beating.

But back on topic, it seems like all Windows Phones make up for their lack of software with very solid/strong hardware.

I owned a HTC Surround with Win 7 on it and used it for almost 2 years. It worked, but I hated most everything about it. I had my S1 at the time as a personal phone and it could everything better except the music sound since the surround had a slider style speaker setup on it.

I love my Android, but I would consider giving a new Nokia Lumina a go for 2 years if I could get it really cheap or free lol!

I have heard good things about them.

Nokias just make sweet ass hardware, I have old old Nokias that still boot up and run perfect.
