ohldboy Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 (edited) Reference coolers can do very well, or not. As long as noise and cooling (especially overclocked) are satisfactory, great. Not always true. Usually enough case fans can move sufficient cooling air thru a case for non reference designs. Sometimes side fans help a good deal. Not as simple with Crossfire or SLI. One size does not fit all. Edited December 13, 2013 by ohldboy
ccokeman Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Hey Ed, As far as boost clock goes http://www.powercolor.com/global/products_features.asp?id=490 this one has it beat on core speed but not on memory speed! I'll gladly do a head to head!

I'll gladly do a head to head! LOL! That's the one I posted, I did overlook the memory bandwidth though... I'd like to see those 2 cards go head-to-head stock and see which aspect matters more; you should do it!
RealNeil Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 The fastest R9 270X is the Sapphire R9 270X Toxic. The cooler is the same one used on the 280X and the result is a card that stays very cool and is practically silent. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202047 Sapphire also includes that Dual BIOS switch on a lot of their cards. You can choose from a stock BIOS in on position and a factory OC'd BIOS in the other. This is a definite plus as I see it.

Not inherently, unless you're a bios flasher lol
