Buying new ram

Recommended Posts

So I have right now 2 stick of ballistix ddr3 1333 (im pretty sure) 1g and a 4g stick that I'm not sure of the brand, I could check, it would just be a pain in the ass because it's between the two. I want to buy another 4g stick of ballistix ddr3 1333, will that work with what I have in there right now? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I'm confused so you have

1GB 1333mhz

and

4GB 1333mhz

making 5GB together, but want to swap the 1GB for a 4GB matched stick so you'd run dual channel 4GBx2=8GB?

In his sig it says he has 6GBs of ram total so he wants to buy a 4gb stick to make it a 9GB stick of ram and wants to know if he can upgrade to a 4GB stick thats another brand? If so you should be able to cross brands as long as the hz match.

Yep, if speed and timings match then it'll work
