Calling all military

Recommended Posts

As we move in to the day dedicated to Vetreans, I wanted to reach out and first thank my fellow service members for their time in the military, and their dedication to freedom around the world.

I would ask that you take just a few minutes to post and tell us what branch you were in, how long, and a sea story of your time in the service.

My service:

I was in the US Navy from 2004-2007. I was injured on board the USS Eisenhower so forced to exit the military. I was an Aircrew Survival Equipmentman 3rd class (E4) when I got out.

My short sea story: During bootcamp, we were evacuated from our barracks because of an anthrax scare. Keeping in mind, this was the time in 2004 when this was rampant and anthrax letters were showing up a lot. So we got evacuated and had to go sleep in the gym. Our LCPO (Leading Chief Petty Officer) was the one first exposed to this white powder substance; so in the middle of September in Illinois he was decontaminated (Sprayed down with freezing cold water) and scrubbed by men in suits.

Turns out the white powder in the envelop was Altoids...

A little late, but currently serving as a 25B. No time down range, working in a special assignment that I'm not at liberty to state. Got about 3.5 left on my contract, been in for almost 3.5 now.

Thank you all for your service!
