CapPrice Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 BIOS -> Advanced -> Onboard Devices Config -> Marvell SATA Controller is set to AHCI MODE and enable did the secure erase and the performance is slightly better but i can get the recommended performance is this because of this marvell controller is shi**? Wesstron Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 The Intel P55 chipset is only SATA 2 capable, so to bring SATA 3 they use a Marvell controller that runs off the PCI Lanes of the P55 (my guess is it's a one lane but I might be mistaken). It seems that there is quite a number of limitations with using a 3rd party controller in this case. So be patient and upgrade to a newer platform lol. wevsspot Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Upgrading to a newer platform is the only way you're going to get native SATA 6Gb/s support from the Intel chipset. The older Marvell 6Gb/s controllers are marginal at best even on a single SSD. So right now your only real choices are be happy with where you're at or update your platform.
